Team FIRECATS once again champion in the FAS Bacolod elimination hosted by Team NASL last May 1-2, 2009 at the Paglaum sports complex in Bacolod city, the event went with 9 competing team from different parts of negros and 4 teams from iloilo city.
At the first 3 games the FIRECATS were intense with all members working as a unit we manage to wipe out our opponents and defused the bomb, but we had bad luck after lunch maybe because were full we lose our last 2 games for the day with 50 point deduction for detonating the bomb...we went home that day a bit shoulder down but our team leaders were monitoring points so the next tournament day we went to the fields again with new strategy since most teams have already read our gameplay the other day.. With God's Grace and the TEAM FIRECATS playing as a unit we manage to walk away as CHAMPIONS now teams FIRECATS are getting ready for the FAS VISAYAS Elimination in CEBU this July 2009...

Kuya Daniel calls for Just One day; Rotary Club of Kamuning first to respond
A recent bold call, Isang Araw Lang (Just One Day) initiated by Kuya Daniel Razon spread like wildfire on the Internet and has caused an organization to provide medical assistance to a public school in Quezon City.
Online publishers started blogging and uploading the video clips of an episode of the hit morning show Good Morning Kuya! (GMK), when Kuya Daniel disclosed to the public the underlying principles behind it.
Through the call, Kuya Daniel encourages every one who is capable to extend any help they can give to the less fortunate Filipinos in their own will.
While the catchy phrase Isang Araw Lang continues to surface on the internet, the Rotary Club of Kamuning responded immediately.
A one-day free medical mission was conducted for the pupils of M.H. del Pilar Elementary School in cooperation with the Kamanggagawa Foundation which provided the complete mobile clinic, volunteer nurses and pediatricians.
Reports say that eighty-five percent (85%) of the total number of pupils are malnourished in M.H. Del Pilar Elementary School. Luisito O. Cleoto, one of the faculty members, said that the Rotary Club of Kamuning not only conducted medical service but also provided food and vitamins to the indigent pupils of the said school.
Kuya Daniel continues his call to the public, which he hopes will move more organizations or even individuals to extend their time, efforts and money for the benefit of the less fortunate.
One blogger at arconagbuya.wordpress.com describes how ecstatic he is with the idea of Kuya Daniel’s call. He said that the campaign is not a dream but a reality.
“Pero itong campaign ni Kuya Daniel na “Isang Araw Lang” ay hindi panaginip. It’s a reality dahil meron talagang maraming libreng serbisyo sa kapwa- medical, dental, legal, job fair, Transient Home, MRT ride, bus ride- at hindi yon isang araw lang, kundi, ARAW ARAW!!!”
(“But this campaign of Kuya Daniel, “Isang Araw Lang”, is not a dream. It’s a reality because there really are many kinds of public service—medical, dental, legal, job fair, Transient Home, MRT ride, bus ride—and these are not just for one day, but EVERY DAY!!!)
Meanwhile, on the fansite of Kuya Daniel, here is an excerpt of what a fan had to say about the Isang Araw Lang campaign:
“On February 24, 2009, Kuya Daniel and the rest of “Pondahan” were publicly professing their pondering on pressing issues that plague the Philippine people (Wasn’t reading that fun?). And then, the most ingenious of ideas, like a streak of light, comes from Kuya Daniel: What if a doctor or lawyer just gives one day of his service to his fellow for free? What if any Filipino who has the capacity to give will sacrifice just one day for his fellow in need?
And that is how the “Isang Araw Lang” campaign was born and its cries have been ever so echoing on print, radio, TV, and the Internet since then.”
In his welcoming remarks in his latest photo exhibit, Looking Beyond, on February 26, Kuya Daniel cited how smokers, for example, can also participate in this campaign. By sacrificing not to smoke for just one day and use the money they spend on cigarettes, many street children could be fed.
A TV ad campaign on UNTV 37 shows the statistics of 13 million smokers. This number if translated to at least one peso per smoker can accumulate to 13 Million pesos, which is enough to cover the food expenses of the street children in the country.
When asked by a friend, why one day only?
(“I will leave the answer to that question to you…but what I am going to say to you is, one week will not be complete without a single day, a month will not be complete without a single day. We have already started doing it daily. How about you? When are you going to do it everyday? But before we start doing it everyday, we will start with one day. That is why, our plea is just one day.”)
Kuya Daniel, popularly known as “Mr. Public Service” and “Kuya ng Bayan”, is the man behind the first ever Kamanggagawa Free Transient Home in the Philippines. Other daily public service programs he established includes, the free medical mission, free bus and train rides, free legal consultation, and free feeding programs, among others.
